Shklou: former prisoners ordered to clean park territory
At the end of November the Shklou District Police Department held
a “Vacancies Fair” within the action “Step Towards”, aimed at
socialization of people with previous convictions. The event was
attended by the DPD head Aliaksandr Pimenau, the Shklou district
prosecutor Dzmitry Liancheuski, the deputy head of the department of
labor, employment and social defense Mikalai Yaromich and the
citizens of the Shklou district registered at the criminal-executive
inspection.
At first the police officials and the executive
authorities told about the vacancies in the district. After this, the
film “Light at the End of Tunnel” was showed.
After the
end of the official part of the event, the people with previous
convictions were sent to “voluntary works” - to clean the
territory of the city park. Of course, nobody asked their agreement,
they were just told to do it.
According to the district
newspaper “Udarnyi Front”, such events are held each month and
the authorities plan to continue the work in this direction in 2013.
At present, there are 39 unemployed people with previous
convictions in the Shklou district. 22 people have been employed this
year. All in all, 361 people are registered at the criminal-executive
inspection of the Shklou District Police Department – some of them
are people with previous convictions, others received punishments
which are not connected with isolation from the society.
