CEC ignores complaints by Slonim pro-dem candidates
Mikhail Karatkevich, candidate in Slonim constituency No. 58, as well as former candidate for Parliament Ivan Sheha, have received replies from the Central Election Commission head Lidziya Yarmoshyna.
In their appeals, the candidates complained of unequal campaigning opportunities in Zelva district. In particular, local authorities disrupted the candidates’ meetings with voters in a number of the district’s enterprises.
However, the reply from the CEC says that Mikhail Karatkevich and Ivan Sheha “were denied premises for holding meetings with voters, since in violation of the established procedures you failed to apply to the constituency election commission.” “Your claim to the Central Election Commission is not based on the law, either,” says the reply.
In reality, all the banned meetings were agreed upon with chair of Slonim constituency election commission Alena Machalina, Zelva district executive committee and heads of local administrations.
