Election pickets can be hold in only 20 out of 130 villages of the district of Kalinkavichy, Homel region, as ordered by a decision of the district’s executive committee.
In Kalinkavichy, election campaigning is authorized in only three outdoor locations.
Observers say the decision impacts pro-democratic candidates, who traditionally hold their pre-election pickets in the open air, while pro-government candidates use administrative resources to campaign at state-owned enterprises and government organizations.
