Brest observer Uladzimir Vialichkin registered at local constituency election commission No. 2 has not been allowed attending the commission’s sitting where signatures submitted for potential candidates are expected to be verified.
According to Mr. Vialichkin, Halina Yanholenka, chair of election commission No. 2, ordered not to provide any information to observers. Apart from that, the election official issued a written ban on attending the commission’s sittings by the observer, referring to Art. 13 of the Electoral Code.
The ban was appealed at the Central Election Commission. However, on 19 August the CEC chair Lidziya Yarmoshyna said the ban was legal.
