On 17 August, Svetlahorsk police did not allow independent journalist Larysa Shchyrakova covering public consultations on the construction of a pulpmill, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports.
The journalist was not even let inside the town’s center of culture, where the public hearings were held.
Local residents say the executive officials did not give the floor to any of the representatives of local community who applied for making a speech at the assembly.
