Maladechna authorities ban picket of solidarity with political prisoners

Maladechna district executive committee has banned a picket of support to Ales Bialiatski and other Belarusian political prisoners, referring to an earlier engagement for the location.

Apart from that, in his reply the executive committee’s head Fiodar Damatsenka says that “expressing public protest by picketing in this case is not provided by the legislation”, as Ales Bialiatski was found guilty and convicted by a court.

“The authorities keep violating the Constitutional rights of citizens. They refer to the court which I do not trust,” says local activist of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee Eduard Balanchuk.
