The administration of Baranavichy-based Central Market ordered to stop a canvassing picket staged at the market by local entrepreneur and potential candidate for Parliament Mikalai Charnavus.
“I used to collect signatures at the market during the 2010 presidential election, and I also faced harassment. However, I managed to protect my right to canvass for votes at the market. Now they ban my pickets again. Meanwhile, I know that the executive committee’s decision of 9 July does not prohibit collecting signatures at the Central Market. Therefore, I am going to appeal the violation at the election commission of constituency No. 5, where my initiative group has been registered,” says Mikalai Charnavus.
