Siarhei Kavalenka declared “malignant violator”
The administration of Mahiliou penal colony #19
where political prisoner Siarhei Kavalenka is serving his prison term, declared
him a malignant violator of the prison regime.
The prisoners who receive this status are further limited in their rights – in
particular, they can receive fewer parcels and meeting with relatives and can
spend less money (100,000 rubles instead of 500,000) on foodstuffs a month.
Siarhei's wife, Alena Kavalenka, also found out that he still hasn't received
the parcel with medicines she had passed him a week ago.
Siarhei Kavalenka has been kept in Mahiliou colony #19 since 19 May. He has
already spent 10 days in the penal cell there. He is serving a prison term for
alleged violation of the regime of personal restraint, to which he was
sentenced for hanging out a white-red-white flag on the New Year tree in
Vitsebsk.
