Baranavichy policemen will not be prosecuted for detaining local opposition activist Ryhor Hryk on 1 May, says a reply from police chief Prakuda.
The activist was detained at Baranavichy railway station while heading for Minsk. He was allegedly suspected of transporting explosives.
“I was told that the policeman’s actions were legal. However, he failed to explain my rights and issue a copy of the search report. The reply says nothing of my three-hour’s detention. Nor did it mention my claims for compensation, as I arrived late and failed to take part in a scheduled event in Minsk,” says Mr. Hryk.
