Orsha activists launch information campaign on Stalinist repressions

Orsha youth group called Zviaz is looking for the families of people who were killed as a result of mass repressions in the 1930s-1950s, as part of a campaign aimed at producing a newsletter on the Great Purge of the Stalin Era.

Some 5,000 people were executed and buried outside the town of Orsha; the burial site was later made into a monument. However, no exact data are yet known, as there has been no full-scale research of the issue.

Apart from that, Zviaz’s activists have launched a campaign to force the authorities to declare the monument a historic heritage.
