"Young Front" members sentenced to long terms of arrest
"Young Front" activists detained in Minsk
three days ago were tried at the Leninski District Court of Minsk. RFE/RL
learned this from "Young Front" deputy head Anastasiya Palazhanka.
“Dzmitry Kramianetski, Mikhail Muski, Uladzimir Yaromenka and Raman Vasiliieu were given 15 days of
administrative arrest, though they had already spent three days in a detention
centre. So, each of them was given 18 days of arrest,” Palazhanka said.
The activists were tried for an action near the MFA headquarters. Anonymous
people threw toilet paper at the building to show their protest against
expelling foreign diplomats from Belarus.
“As always, policemen gave false evidence. It was obvious that Dzmitry
Kramianetski did not participate in the event, but he was found guilty.
Uladzimir Yaromenka is in the most difficult situation. He may face criminal
surveillance after the administrative arrest,” Anastasiya Palazhanka says.
The action near the MFA building was held in Minsk on 29 February. Trials over
the "Young Front" members were conducted by judges Khoma and Zapasnik.
As it was found during the weekend, Raman Vasiliieu has a high temperature and
aches in superciliary arches and temples, which is a symptom of antritis. An
ambulance was called for the imprisoned activists. The doctor said that the
diagnosis couldn't be confirmed without making an X-ray. However, Raman
Vasiliieu wasn't taken out for this procedure.
