The Belarusian Helsinki Committee has lodged an appeal with the Prosecutor General’s Office demanding to investigate torture allegations reported by Mr. Siarhei Hafarau, inmate of Minsk detention center in Valadarski Street, Radio Racyja reports.
According to the BHC lawyer Hary Pahaniayla, Mr. Hafarau, who is currently held in custody on charges of inciting bribery, was beaten up by the prison wardens.
Siarhei Hafarau also says violence is regularly used against the prisoners of Minsk detention center.
