Police prevent journalists from seeing hunger-striker from “Granite” enterprise

Six days ago Leanid Hladzevich, a driver working at the “Granite” plant in the city of Mikashevichy, went on a hunger-strike of protest against the pressurization of members of the independent trade-union and deprivation of the head of its local unit, Aleh Stakhayevich, of driver's license for six months.

“The demands of my hunger-strike are that the head of the Vitsebsk Regional Executive Committee, Kanstantsin Sumar, and the road policemen who annulled the driver's license without being able to explain the reasons, came for a talk.

At present the hunger-striker feels alright, though his head aches at times. However, the police prevented journalists from the satellite TV channel “BelSat” from meeting with him on 29 January.
