Orsha: investigation into BPF members' case expands its geography
On 8 December in Orsha a member of the Sojm
of the Belarusian Popular Front Party A. Shutau was visited by a representative
of the inquiries department of the Orsha City Police Department.
As it was explained by him, the Orsha
police received an investigation request to interrogate Shutau as a witness in
the case of Kalita, Semyanyuk and Hubarevich.
We remind that the matter concerns an alleged clash of activists with a drunken
guard of the former headquarters of the Belarusian Popular Front in Krapotkin
Street 93A on 13 August. Many observers consider the incident to be a
provocation staged against the oppositional party.
Ales Shutau was extremely surprised by the visit of the investigator to him. He
was absent at the session of the Sojm on 13 August and did not see those
events. However, investigators for some reason decided to question him. The
questions he was asked caused even more surprise. Shutau was asked whether
Kalita, Semianiuk and Hubarevich misuse alcohol. In order to get an answer to
such a vital question, investigators sent a request 220 kilometers away
from Minsk, to Orsha.
