47 Belarusian NGOs have released a joint statement, demanding an immediate release of Viasna leader Ales Bialiatski following his conviction on 24 November.
“We are convinced that the verdict is illegal and demand an immediate release and rehabilitation of Ales Bialiatski. We also express our support to Ales and hope he will soon be acquitted and released in a fair trial. We call upon our colleagues and ordinary citizens of Belarus, as well as representatives of the international community to stand for Ales Bialiatski and demand his immediate release”, says the statement.
