Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Belarus
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic is shocked by the court decision to sentence Ales Bialatsky, Chairman of the Belarusian Human Rights Centre Viasna, to four and a half years of a restricted freedom in a medium-security institution.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic considers this trial as politically motivated and urges Belarusian authorities to end repressions against representatives of the Belarusian civil society. The Ministry will continue to closely observe future proceedings in this case.
