Sannikov is in prison outside Vitsebsk. Lawyer denied access to him again
A lawyer has been denied access to Andrei Sannikov in penal colony Vitsba-3 today.
According to the prison chief, who talked to the lawyer, presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov was placed in the so called quarantine cell for two weeks, so a meeting with a lawyer is impossible.
As charter97.org learnt from former political prisoner Alyaksandr Atroshchankau, who served his term in the same colony, “a newly arrived prisoner is usually placed in a quarantine cell for at least two weeks. Prisoners cannot phone home or have meetings with relatives, but there are not restrictions for seeing a lawyer during the quarantine period as well as in other cases. It will be absolute outrage if a lawyer is not allowed access in some weeks. Denial of access cannot be explained anyway. I am sure that Sannikov has faced huge moral and physical pressure and tortures. The authorities fear this information may go public.”
