Mrs. Maryna Kavaleuskaya, the lawyer of former presidential candidate Andrei Sannikau, is appealing a ban on meeting her client ordered by head of Mahiliou prison #4 Aliaksandr Lamaza.
Mrs. Kavaleuskaya was denied meeting the prisoner due to the special status of Andrei Sannikau during the transfer.
According to the lawyer, there were no legal grounds for the ban.
“Andrei Sannikau was earlier held in Mahiliou prison #4 as “a transfer prisoner”, and there were no obstacles to numerous meetings and providing legal assistance. Today’s ban is revolting. I believe that denying my meeting with the prisoner is an outrage”, says Mrs. Kavaleuskaya.
