Vitsebsk: Tatsiana Seviarynets treated as an old offender already
On 8 October Tatsiana Seviarynets, Vitsebsk
coordinator of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy
Party, held the People's Assembly in Vitsebsk. On 26 October the police charged
her with the “organization of an unauthorized mass event”. Two weeks later they
also recalled that she had committed this “offense” repeatedly. That's why on
11 November they came to her home in order to draw a new violation report.
“First of all, I am charged under Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses,
which provides a greater punishment. Secondly, in their report they finally
admitted that we had held an assembly of citizens, but with “violation of the
order of conduct of a mass event”. I don't know what it means as I have been
trying to convince police officers that the organization and the conduct of
people's assemblies is not regulated by the Law “On Mass Events,” commented
Tatsiana Seviarynets.
As the policemen explained, they had to draw the new report as the court
refused to try her after receiving the previous one.
By the way, the police also drew a new report against another organizer of the People's Assembly in Vitsebsk, Iryna Yaskevich.
