Zmitser Bandarenka transferred to medical unit
Zmitser Bandarenka, a
coordinator of European Belarus civil campaign, has been transferred to the
prison medical unit from barracks. His wife Volha Bandarenka had a short
telephone talk with him.
“He was transferred to the medical unit only for two weeks, though he was
earlier promised he would remain there all the time. He was transferred to
barracks, where inmates must work. It’s clear why it was done,” Volha
Bandarenka told Radio “Liberty”.
Zmitser Bandarenka has serious problems with his back. He underwent a surgery
in prison that requires some months of rehabilitation under medical
supervision. Instead, Bandarenka was transferred to a penal colony in Mahiliou.
He has been taken to the medical unit for the second time.
Volha Bandarenka thinks prison authorities still try to persuade her husband to
apply for a pardon using Bandarenka’s problems with health as an instrument of
pressure.
