A number of opposition activists were detained in a rally of solidarity with prisoners of conscience staged by the European Belarus civil campaign in Minsk central Kastrychnitskaya Square this morning.

At about 9.40 a.m., Minsk police detained European Belarus coordinator Maksim Viniarski and the campaign’s activist Andrei Mouchan.

Fiodar Mirzayanau, the pardoned convict in so called “mass riot” criminal case, was detained by policemen in plain clothes at his Minsk apartment. His whereabouts remained unknown for a long time. He was eventually reported to have been taken to Minsk Leninski District Police Department as a witness in a criminal case, as quoted by a police representative.

Another former political prisoner Siarhei Kazakou is also reported detained, as he can’t be reach by phone.
