“The use of physical force was lawful; no abuse of power was committed; the reported leg fracture during the detention was not confirmed,” say the results of an investigation into the police-related use of violence against opposition activist Kastus Zhukouski carried out by Homel Tsentralny District Prosecutor’s Office.
The official reply signed by prosecuting investigator Siarhei Kuzmiankou claims both the doctors and the policemen say that Mr. Zhukouski did not complain of a broken leg following his arrest on 21 September. On the following day he was taken to hospital and diagnosed with a broken leg. However, the results of the medical examination say the leg was broken on 20 September, i.e. before the activist’s detention.
