Brest authorities ban picket in support of political prisoners

Viktar Chaikouski, Deputy Chair of the civil association of entrepreneurs Perspective, received an answer from the Brest City Executive Committee to his applications for authorizing a number of pickets calling to stop the politically motivated harassment and torture of civil and political activists.

He wanted to hold the actions each evening on 1-5 October, in the most populous places of Brest, including Lenin Square, Masherau Avenue, Kasmanauty Strip and Pushkinskaya Street.

According to the answer, these places weren't authorized for such actions, and the applicant didn't attach to his application service agreements with medics, police and public utilities.

Meanwhile, the places where opposition's actions are permitted are the Locomotive stadium, which is surrounded with a high fence, and the ground in the park to soldiers-internationalists, which is situated almost in a forest.

Bear in mind that human rights defender Raman Kisliak wanted to hold a similar action in Brest on 24 September, and wasn't allowed to do it either.
