Homel human rights defenders Anatol Paplauny and Leanid Sudalenka have received a reply from deputy head of Minsk City Prosecutor’s Office Kanstantsin Kezhun, saying that the pre-trial detention of Viasna leader Ales Bialiatski was chosen considering the gravity of the alleged offence.
Thus, Minsk City Prosecutor’s Office has already named Ales Bialiatski a criminal, which is an outrage against the presumption of innocence.
“The reply does not explain anything – it just states that Ales Bialiatski is a criminal. All we can do now is keep appealing these formal and weird replies”, says Leanid Sudalenka.
