The imprisoned leader of the Human Rights Center “Viasna” Ales Bialiatski has reportedly started studying the materials of the criminal case under Par. 2 Art. 243 of the Criminal Code (“large-scale tax evasion”).
“We can now say that the investigation in Ales Bialiatski’s case is over, as he, together with his lawyer, started studying the case files on Friday”, says Viasna lawyer Uladzimir Labkovich.
According to Mr. Labkovich, the trial of Ales Bialiatski may start in late October.
