Aliaksandr Silkou, Mahiliou regional coordinator of the “For Freedom” opposition movement, has been interrogated by local customs department over smuggling charges, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports.
According to the activists, Brest police detained a Polish citizen Mr. Jaskowicki and seized a grant application with Mr. Silkou’s name stated as the applicant.
“The project dealt with the “Civil Magistrate” committee and was submitted to the George C. Marshall Foundation. They asked me what I could say about the matter. I said it was a provocation. In general, there were many incoherent questions. I think it is a warning: everyone in Mahiliou is under control”, says Mr. Silkou.
