KGB prepared testimony for janitor
BPF party member Siarhei
Semianiuk says a criminal case opened against him and party activists Ales
Kalita and Maksim Hubarevich over hooliganism will soon be sent to court.
Semianiuk talked to janitor in the office building in Krapotkin Street in Minsk, where the party rents an office, Radio
Racyja reports. The female janitor is
involved in the case as an injured party. She said that KGB officers had
visited her to hand in the text of the evidence she should read out at the
trial:
“I talked to the janitor, who is an
injured party in our criminal case. She confessed that KGB officers had visited
her and said the case would be sent to court soon. She was given two pages of
the evidence she should pronounce at the trial. She was told to learn the text,
use it during the trial and not to speak too much.”
Semianiuk says the woman is scared, she fears to lose her job, but she said
about the visit.
The three defendants have not been called to police for the last three weeks. Semianiuk
thinks investigators hurry to complete the case and send it to court so that
the defendants do not have time to prepare themselves for trial.
The incident with three BPF activists and a security guard took place on 13 August.
Activists say the drunken guard was at work in off hours. He began to provoke
the activists, insult them and swear. They tried to quiet him, took out of the
building and called a taxi. The conflict seemed to be over, but the guard filed
a complaint to police two days later.
