Today, Minsk Maskouski District Court opened the hearing of the criminal charges brought against Sviataslau Baranovich, the last accused in the criminal case over the so called mass riot on 19 December 2010.
Judge Mrs. Alena Rudnitskaya postponed the trial till 28 September after only 12 out of 30 alleged police victims appeared in the courtroom. The Judge also ruled to release the accused before the trial after spending over 2 months in Minsk pre-trial prison #1.
Sviataslau Baranovich daces charges under Par. 2 Art. 293 of the Criminal Code (“participation in mass riots”) and may be imprisoned for up to 8 years.
