Pickets banned in Mahiliou and Kobryn

The executive authorities of Kobryn and Mahiliou have banned pickets of support to Ales Bialiatski, local human rights defenders Barys Bukhel and Aliaksei Kolchyn say.

In its ban, Mahiliou city executive committee referred to the applicants’ failure to sign the necessary agreements with police, medical and housing services.

Meanwhile, Kobryn authorities did not even indicate the official grounds for the ban.

“They wrote that our application did not meet Article 5 of the Mass Events Act. That’s all, they did not even explain”, says local activist Ales Mekh.
