Some 20 persons gathered in Homel’s Uprising Square on 17 August to stage another “silent protest”, the BelaPAN news agency reports, quoting Young Front activist Andrei Tsianiuta.
“We were just talking and then left. Dzmitry Karashkou was detained while driving home”, says the activist.
According to Mr. Karashkou, his detention is directly linked to the protest. “It was a deliberate detention. The road police knew my car’s number”, says Dzmitry Karashkou.
“After Karashkou was detained, the police started checking IDs and detained those who did not have ones. They were taken to the police station”, says Andrei Tsianiuta.
