On 17 August, human rights defender Zmitser Salauyeu received a phone call from an unknown person who presented herself as investigator of the Financial Investigation Department Mrs. Kasynkina and requested that Mr. Salauyeu turned up for questioning.
However, the activist refused to do so, demanding to follow legal procedures and serve a summons, instead. As a result, the investigator threatened Mr. Salauyou with administrative prosecution for failure to appear for interrogation.
Mrs. Kasynkina is head of a financial investigating group investigating the charges brought against Viasna’s leader Ales Bialiatski.
