Baranavichy activists are facing bureaucratic hurdles while appealing for holding pickets of support to Ales Bialiatski, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports quoting local human rights defender Siarhei Housha.
According to Mr. Housha, Baranavichy police have repeatedly blocked signing the required agreements for holding a picket.
“It is no secret to us that the police have contacts with the ideology department of the town executive committee, who, in turn, insist on shelving the required agreements. However, we are ready to overcome the bureaucratic hurdles”, says the human rights defender.
A picket of solidarity with Ales Bialiatski is scheduled on 22 August.
