Administration of detention center refuses to deliver parcel to jailed mother of post-election protester Mikita Likhavid
The administration of a detention center in Minsk on Tuesday
refused to deliver food and hygiene items to the jailed mother of
post-election protester Mikita Likhavid.
Alena Likhavid
was sentenced to a jail term after she was grabbed by plainclothesmen
during a so-called silent protest in Minsk on July 20.
The
parcel for the woman was brought by the sister of another imprisoned
post-election protester, Alyaksandr Klaskowski, who said that she had
waited for four hours in scorching heat outside the detention center on
Akrestsina Street to be told by a jail officer that the package would
not be delivered to the jailed woman.
The officer said that
another parcel had been allegedly delivered to Ms. Likhavid earlier in
the day. He acknowledged that an inmate was not prohibited from
receiving more than one package in one day but still refused to accept
it. //BelaPAN
