Vileika: priest fined for refusal from dactylography
A father with many children, archpriest Ihar Prylepski
serves masses in the St. Paul and Peter church in the village of Kasuta in the
Vialeika district. Like the majority of the Belarusian men, he received a
summons to the police in order to get fingerprinted.
However, he refused to go there. Then he was fined 700,000 rubles, for
“refusing to obey to lawful demands of law machinery officers” (Article 23.4 of
the Code of Administrative Offenses). This was done as the law On
Dactylography provides no penalty for refusing from this procedure.
By the way, in the writ received by the priest it was stated that the
fingerprints were taken in connection with some “internal ruling of the
Interior Ministry” concerning the investigation into the explosions that were
conducted by unidentified persons in Belarus during the recent years. It's
quite interesting that in spring the Belarusian authorities stated that they
managed to find the “terrorists”. However, they failed to present any evidence
to the public. No trials have been held either.
