The Leninski District Court of Hrodna fined Mikalai
Karnevich, the Hrodna correspondent for Radio Liberty, 1,050,000 rubles
for “participation in the unauthorized action” held there on 3 July. The court
ignored the document confirming that the journalist worked there.
The journalist considers his case as fabricated and is going to appeal the
court verdict at the Hrodna Region Court. The testimony was given by the police
officers who hadn't detained him on 3 July.
During the 3 July action Mikhail Karnevich just made photos of the silent
protest action which was held in the center of Hrodna.
