Human Rights Center Viasna expresses solidarity with regional human rights defenders
The Human Rights Center Viasna states its solidarity with the Belarusian human rights
defenders who were detained during the silent protest actions in different
parts of Belarus.
Barys Bukhel, was detained several times. On 7 July he was sentenced to 7 days
of arrest for participation in the silent protest action on 3 July.
Ales Kaputski, a human rights defender from Maladechna, was detained during the
silent protest action on 15 June. The police put down his passport data.
Aliaksei Lapitski, a human rights defender from Zhodzina, was detained at the
silent protest action on 29 June. He was charged under Article 23.4 of the Code
of Administrative Offenses, “insubordination to the police”, and sentenced to 5
days of arrest.
Anatol Paplauny, a human rights defender from Homel, was detained at the silent
protest action on 3 July. He was charged under Article 17.1 of the Code of
Administrative Offenses, “disorderly conduct”, and sentenced to 15 days of
arrest.
The Human Rights Center Viasna states
that it will continue its activities aimed at the protection of rights and
legal interests of Belarusian citizens despite any kind of persecution.
