The Baranavichy District Executive Committee allowed the local social democrats to hold a picket against the pauperization of the population. The pickets near the Viasiolka supermarket and near the town fountain weren’t authorized, but the picket in the old park (from the side of Kamsamolskaya Street) which they intend to hold on 1-2 p.m. was permitted.

However, it became known only after a personal address of the organizer of the actions, Viachaslau Bolbat (in the photo), to an officer of the ideological department of the Baranavichy Town Executive Committee, Siarhei Puzikau. As it turned out, on 7 June the executive committee adopted ruling #01-15/132/2 concerning Bolbat’s application, but it was sent to the wrong address.

After the mistake was discovered, Mr. Bolbat was issued with a copy of the ruling. Now he needs to conclude agreements with the police, medics and firemen who will serve the mass event. All this must be done during the two days that are left before the action.

The aim of the picket is to protest against the pauperization resulting from the devaluation of the Belarusian ruble.
