Salihorsk authorities ban protest rallies
The Salihorsk Town Executive Committee didn't
authorize the actions of protest against the economic crisis that were
scheduled for 11-12 June. The TEC Chair Aliaksandr Rymasheuski explained it
with “the absence of clarity concerning the form of holding the mass events”.
The local democratic activists state that the actions will be held anyway. It
is connected with a great number of complaints against the deterioration of the
economic situation in the country. However, they still cannot call a concrete
date and place. Uladzimir Shyla, an organizers of the 11-12 June rallies,
considers it inexpedient to hold the actions in the specified place in case
they will be unauthorized. At the same time, the ongoing economic degradation
of the country can bring indignant citizens at the central squares of the
country, and Salihorsk residents can become of the first to come to the
building of the local authorities.
