On 14 April the Mahiliou
Region Court considered the appeal of a civil activist Dzmitry Salauyou against
the verdict of the Leninski District Court which left in force the warning
issued to him by the KGB for participation in the 19 December protest rally in
Minsk and organization of the street actions in Mahiliou that “could result in
mass riot”.
The trial was held by Judge Mikalai Hladki in absence of the defender who was
abroad at the time. Human rights defender Barys Bukhel is not surprised with
the results of the trial. “Now we will think what to do next – to go to the Supreme
Court or to apply directly to the UN Human Rights Committee without it,” – says
Barys Bukhel.
