Mahiliou police detained a number of local opposition activists, allegedly taking part in the Freedom Day celebrations, including Young Front members Valiantsin Labachou and Zmitser Pasrednikau, independent trade union leaders Yury Novikau and Uladzimir Novikau, BPF local leader Zmitser Salauyou an others.
Earlier, the police detained BelaPAN reporter Uladzimir Laptsevich. He, together with Zmitser Salauyou, are charged with resisting arrest. Zmitser Salauyou was reportedly beaten during the arrest.
