Zhodzina: Young Front activist detained for calling Lukashenka to retire
Raman Vasiliieu, a 21-year-old Young Front activist from Zhodzina, will be tried for writing “Sasha,
retire!”. The police detained him on the way home. They put him on his knees
facing the wall where the graffiti was made, twisted back his arms and put them
in handcuffs. He had to wait for the patrol car and experts in such position.
Raman was taken to the police station at almost 3 a.m., and the handcuffs were
removed only at 4.30 a.m.
He was kept in a small cell till 9
a.m., and then was taken to his apartment, where a
search was conducted. Leaflets Freedom to
Political Prisoners!, informational leaflets with invitations to the
Freedom Day-2011 and two hard drives were confiscated. The police also searched
the apartments of Raman’s friends.
Vasiliieu states that the police threatened to put him in a cell where he would
be gay-raped unless he signed confession in his “crime”. That’s why he had to
sign it. Now he can be sentenced to a huge fine. The date of the trial is not
known yet.
