Homel KGB continues searches
The Homel
KGB officers searched the apartment of Yury Klimovich, an electioneering agent
of the presidential candidate Vital Rymasheuski and a member of the organizing
committee of the Belarusian Christian Party. The search was conducted by four persons
headed by Captain Andrei Melnikau. They took away Yury’s computer and materials
of Rymasheuski’s electoral campaign.
By the way, Yury’s father is a famous GULAG prisoner Ryhor Klimovich, the
author of the End of GORLAG book.
Yury Klimovich couldn’t be present at the protest rally in Minsk on 19 December. On 18 December he was detained
by the police and sentenced to 15 days of arrest by the judge of the Tsentralny
District Court of Homel Maryna Damnenka, on charges in using the obscene
language. He was released from jail only on 2 January.
