KGB 'offers cooperation' to wife of Charter97 coordinator
KGB officers visited the apartment of Dzmitry Bandarenka, a prisoner of the KGB (the State Security Committee) pre-trial detention center. They wanted to have 'a private conversation' with his wife Volha.
She managed to tell about that to her daughter on the phone, and after that the talk was interrupted.
In half an hour Volha Bandarenka was
available on the phone again. She told that KGB men offered her 'cooperation'
and asked to 'influence her husband', making him cooperate with authorities in
the investigation. For her agreement she was promised he would be released on
recognizance, and he would be sentenced to a 'term which would be not as long
as Sannikau’s'.
Dzmitry Bandarenka, Andrei Sannikau’s election agent, was detained on 20
December overnight and is kept in the KGB jail.
