BHC put back by CEC chair Yarmoshyna

On 24 December, during a Central Election Commission meeting, its chair Lidzia Yarmoshyna said the consideration of an appeal by the Belarusian Helsinki Committee was not provided by the law.

“I objected, saying that we submitted our appeal under Article 40 of the Belarusian Constitution, since we registered numerous election violations during the independent observation campaign. However, I received an extremely rude reply from Ms. Yarmoshyna”, says BHC lawyer Harry Pahaniayla.

At the same meeting, the CEC members dismissed a similar appeal by former presidential candidate Ryhor Kastusiou.
