If
October Square is occupied by armed forces, armoured troop-carriers and
the police on December 19, the presidential candidates will not send
people to fight tanks.
Uladzimir
Nyaklyayeu claimed it at a joint press conference with Andrei Sannikau
answering Euroradio’s question about their plans in such a situation.
Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu: “I
went out for town and saw it: armoured troop-carries and regiments are
being gathered there. If they circle the square to prevent people from
entering it to express their protest, we will not send people to fight
armoured troop-carriers and armed forces – we are not crazy. But we will
consider it to be a military operation, the use of force to oppose the
people’s will. We will claim and demonstrate it”.
At the
same time, the candidates urged people to come to October Square at 8
p.m. on December 19 again, not to be scared by threats and to defy
provocations.
