Sannikov’s team activists detained in Maladzechna

Two activists of the Belarusian presidential candidate’s team were detained by the police for spreading agitation posters. A search warrant has been issued.

Yauen Karostsik and Alyaksandr Abramovich were detained in Prytytsky Street in Maladzechna on Wednesday evening when they were pasting up agitation posters for presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov. The activists were guarded to the police department and accused of violating article 21.14 of the Code of Administrative Offences of Belarus (Violation of the rules of maintenance of residential places). Karostsik spent over three hours in the police department, Abramovich remained there for five hours.

Before being released, Abramovich was shown a search warrant signed by a prosecutor and chief of the police department, but wasn’t given an opportunity to read it. According to the police, his apartment will be searched today.
