A claim with this demand was filed to the General Prosecutor’s Office on 8 November.

As human rights activist Aleh Vouchak said, Veterans of the War in Afghanistan demand to bring the investigative team in the case of Mikalai Autukhovich to responsibility.

The claim notes that on 8 February 2009, Mikalai Autukhovich and Yury Liavonau were arrested on a suspicion of committing arsons of property of Siarhei Katsuba, a former head of the police department in Vaukavysk, and local tax officer Siarhei Mandzik. Former tax officer Uladzimir Asipenka was arrested as well. ‘The people guilty of these crimes were already sentenced in 2005. The victims didn’t file any claims against the above mentioned persons to the law-enforcement agencies,’ runs the statement.

‘New charges were bought against the detainees during the investigation. They were accused of preparation of a terrorist attack on Uladzimir Sauchanka, the Chairperson of the Hrodna Region Executive Committee, and assault upon the life of deputy minister on taxation and revenues Vasil Kamenka. In accordance with the ruling of Judge Aliaksei Tsiatsiukhin, the entrepreneurs were acquitted of these charges. The facts of inventing evidence for the prosecution, namely forcing out wrong evidence, tortures of the detained people and bribing, were made public during the trial.
