Vitsebsk civil society activist Anatol Stambrouski
At the
end of September the UN Human Rights Committee registered the complaint of the
Vitsebsk civil activist Anatol Stambrouski under #1987/2010.
The complaint concerns the prohibition to hold a picket that had been issued to
him in autumn 2009. Mr. Stambrouski wanted to hold this action to inform the residents
of Vitsebsk about violations of legal requirements by the local duty officials.
However, the Vitsebsk City Executive Committee refused to authorize the picket
and stated that it would hinder the movement of pedestrians.
