Slonim District Executive Committee prevents independent journalist from coming to its sitting
The
sitting on the formation of the precinct election commissions of the Slonim
District was held by the Slonim District Executive Committee at 7.50-8.20 a.m. on
3 November.
A journalist of the private socio-political edition Hazeta Slonimskaya phoned to the executive officer of the DEC Alena
Machalina 10 minutes before the beginning of the sitting and asked to be
admitted to it. However, she answered that the sitting had already started and
he phoned too late.
The long-term observer Ivan Sheha managed to get to the sitting. According to
him, the formation of the precinct commissions followed the old scenario. It is
still unknown whether any representatives of pro-democratic parties and NGOs
were included in the commissions. The interested parties will learn about it
only after the lists of members of the precinct commissions are published in
the local state-owned press.
