Today, on 23 September, Salihorsk court fined Tatsiana Kuchynskaya, head of Uladzimir Niakliayeu’s local campaign headquarters, BYR 1,400,000 for alleged violating Paragraph 2 Article 22.9 of the Mass Media Code (illegal production and distribution of mass media).
Ms. Kuchynskaya was detained at a Salihorsk market as she, together with activist Andrei Tychyna, were distributing the ‘Niakliayeu’s Truth’ newspaper. The activists were released without charges. However, a week later they were charged under civil procedures.
Andrei Tychyna was convicted on 14 September on similar charges.
The activists say they are going to appeal the verdicts.
